First of all, there's got to be something wrong with a scale manufacturer that doesn't know the difference between accuracy and precision. The marketing stuff says it's accurate to 0.2 lb, but that's not true. Using the scale as per instructions, distributing the weight evenly, I found the scale varies within a range as much as 3lb, taking several readings within 30 seconds of each other. I've done this test several times and apparently I weigh somewhere between 170 and 173 lbs. It's the right ballpark, but it's certainly false advertising to call this scale "accurate to within 0.2 lb".
The LCD readout is **precise** to within 0.2 lb, but that's not the same thing as accuracy. To illustrate the difference, imagine you bought a caliper with a digital readout that goes down to 0.005", but when you took it out of the box, you realized it's made of rubber! The error in the system, due to stretchability here, is far greater than what is suggested by the readout.
So, the accuracy is far worse than that suggested by the readout.
That's the problem with this product: mechanical play or some other source of error that makes the readout precision a joke. A scale manufacturer that doesn't know the difference between precision and accuracy ought not to be trusted, in my opinion.
I bought one of these because of the advertised accuracy, and clearly I wasted my money.

I bought this scale, three weeks later it stopped working, just a black screen, no numbers. Health O meter repaced it, the new one lasted 2 weeks. Just wouldn't tap on. I weigh less than 130 lbs.

This scale is off 5 pounds one minute and not the next. That is too much error. Also when you tap the bottom as the instructions say it will show CAL and turn off, sometimes it will show CAL and then E for Error, and sometimes it works. It is a real pain. I have taken good care of it and also changed the battery, still is more problems than it's worth.

At its present price of just under forty dollars at Amazon (with free shipping if you're an Amazon Prime member), this is an extraordinary buy. And the 4-for-3 promotion just makes it even better.

Even at a higher price (sixty dollars, maybe?), it would be well worthwhile.

These servers are petite, lightweight (i.e. easy to carry), sturdy and elegant-looking. The ability to cook either on the stovetop (we have an induction stove, and it works beautifully for these) or in the oven is a huge plus, so that you bring your food already warm to the table and skip any messy transfer between pots and servers.

The fact that our guests can see through the pretty glass top of the server to identify what they want seconds on before opening all the servers makes it even nicer.

With four of these servers, I can serve a hot brunch with eggs, bacon/sausages and two sides, and I don't have to worry about keeping these dishes hot while also plying guests with green salad, cut-up fruit and baked goods. For Thanksgiving, I can have turkey/dressing in one, mashed potato in another, and 2 separate vegetable side dishes, all nicely warmed (with just some means of keeping gravy warm to worry about!). :)

Each server holds 2 1/2 quarts -- approximately 20 traditional 1/2 cup servings or 10 large full-cup servings. Non-liquid dishes can mound up just a bit in the center to hold a bit more than 2 1/2 quarts and still be covered by the slightly domed lid. These are not massive items. Don't confuse them with huge buffet servers. If you want to serve 5 quarts of food, use 2 servers, or refill your server halfway through. They're very easy to refill -- just pick up the lightweight pan with or without the lid, take it back to the kitchen to add more food, and then return easily to the table where the pan will slip gracefully into its rack, no problems.

The servers were beautifully packaged, with the glass lid separately wrapped and protected. Setup took about 8 seconds. The rack is pretty and graceful, letting most of your tablecloth, runner or polished tabletop surface show beneath it. Six tealights are included (the server uses two), so you are stocked up for three events before you have to go buy more tealights (which are easily purchased almost anywhere and extremely inexpensive).

Unlike the porcelain servers with tealights we used previously, these servers are stainless steel and diffuse the heat easily across the entire base, so we don't have as much of a problem with hot spots or scorched food on the bottom.

They also clean up beautifully, as do all the Cuisinart pans from the Classic Stainless Steel line, which these match perfectly. Note: while the classic stainless steel pans are best handwashed, they are technically fit for the dishwasher: just don't use a dishwashing detergent containing lemon, which will erode the mirror finish on the stainless steel. I prefer to hand wash, which is very easy, as food releases almost magically and the pans air-dry almost spot free, requiring just a quick polish here or there with a paper towel.

Note that there's no place to hold the lid when it's opened, nor a serving spoon, but that's not unreasonable. I just up-end the lid on the buffet behind the server while guests are moving through the line and then cover the dishes until guests later help themselves to seconds. A pretty saucer right next to the server easily holds a serving spoon after the first round until guests return for more. Problem solved.

And if you have to bring a hot dish to a potluck or church dinner, this is a wonderful solution. The cover fits very nicely, so you shouldn't have to worry about spills during transit (though of course you'll want to hold the pan carefully, not let it tip on an uneven car seat). You can then set the pan and cover into the rack and light the tealights once you get there. No problem keeping your specialty warm, even if there aren't enough outlets available for everyone to plug in a crock pot or electric skillet.

These are a steal. Grab some under the current promotion if you can. Even if it expires, these are worth buying at the regular price. A terrific way to ease the burden on you when you entertain, while still making your tasty delights pleasant and attractive to your guests. And don't think you're going to want just one -- consider how many hot dishes you typically serve, and do yourself a favor by getting enough to take the load off you when you entertain or for everyday use for a large family.

I would buy another one instantly if only the bottom holder was better built. Unlike the pan it's a different metal and it rusts. Every time you lift the lid from the pan condensation will drip, and it falls on the holder. I didn't realize the holder would have to be so carefully dried. Now the bottom is rusting in hard to reach places. But the holder is soooo important, why make it so poorly? I love being able to use tea candles and the food stays warm for so long. I would have several of these but what to do when the bottom rusts?

The installation was painless and very easy. However, once it was installed was when things went awry. from the moment that the key was turned on--the relay in the controller chattered away. It did what it was supposed to do--keeping the coolant cool and all that, but clickety clicked away. After about a week, the behavior became erratic and the controller would either turn the fan on forever (even if the vehicle was off and it was below 40 degrees outside) or it wouldn't come on. Thats when i pulled it out and chocked it up to being a defective unit. Since I still had the wiring all setup for that particular controller, I installed an identical unit. Then, pretty much the same story all over again. I checked my connections, checked the relay itself, even measured the voltage coming OUT of the unit. when the relay chattered, i read voltage approximately 2.5 or 3.5 vdc--when it should've been 12vdc. Needless to say, i'm ripping out this one and getting something different.

I ordered 3 units of this Onyx Super Slim Kitchen Scale (11lbs) to bring back for my family and friends in Singapore, as I like the slim profile of the scale and my previous AWS scales had been working perfectly.

One of the unit was found to be faulty out of the box. The LCD display cannot display the digits and the units on the top correctly. I've taken pictures of the faulty display, hopefully I can post it later on. I've tried to remove the batteries and change them with newly-purchased batteries, but to no avail. The problem persisted.

Concerned with the remaining 2 units, I am forced to unpacked the units for testing (which is supposed to be gifts for my friends). The 2 units seemed to be working fine.

Overall, this is a bad experience for me, as I always thought that products from AWS should be of top quality. I've purchased at least 6 units of AWS kitchen scales (including this transaction) from Amazon and I have been an happy customer until I received this faulty unit. To make thing worse, I've already brought the units back to Singapore before I unpacked them, so it is impossible for me to send in for a refund/exchange.

Will probably avoid this product from AWS in future.

I had a bad experience with this scale and elected to return it. When I first got the scale it seemed to provide believable weights though I did not carefully check whether they were accurate. I used it primarily for weight coffee and water while doing drip brewing. So first i weighed the coffee ground and could sort of eyeball how much I was putting in. 2 weeks after I got it it was clearly saying that about what it had said was 18g of coffee before was now 10g of coffee. Sure enough when I weighed a 1/2 cup of water which should be ~118 grams it said it was 65grams.
Additionally, you should be aware that it shuts off automatically very quickly which makes it useless for many applications.

After reading the reviews I thought that I would contact Amazon and the seller reliable a.j. Well the seller was quick to reply to my questions, which is the only good thing I can say about this transaction.

I am usually VERY pleased with everything I purchase from Amazon.

This is definately a knock off off an IKEA rug. Even the back does not have the IKEA label. Just a sticker stuck to the rug saying that it is supposedly from IKEA. The back of the rug looks and feels like a cheap pair of slippers with little platic nubs. The front of the rug is not the softness of real sheepskin, instead it feels like plastic and smells weird.

Same your money. Go to a fabric store and buy a yard of faux sheepskin fabric for $10 or $12 dollars and cut out a sheepskin shape. You would probably have a better looking rug than this.

Definately not worth the money. If the obvious fake rug was $10 or even $20 I would not complain as much, but for the price I paid (for 2!!!) waste of time, money.

And to have the seller reassure me that it was in fact from IKEA and was in fact quenuine sheepskin, I feel mislead, and will never purchase from this seller again.

It is now 2010 and I still use this mug 5 days a week, it is still a great mug and I would still recommend it.
Any mug that lasts 6 years is a winner in my book.

Here is my original review from 6 years ago:

I ordered this mug because it has the 3 key elements I need.
#1 I work in a building with tight EHS and OSHA restrictions requiring all containers to have a closeable lid, which this mug does.
#2 I work while I'm drinking the morning coffee thus need something to keep it hot for a long time, which it does.
#3 And this is the most unique property of this fine mug, it is wide enough for me to clean it all the way to the bottom with my bare hand, without having to use a special tool. MAJOR PLUS.

There is only one complaint, the handle, while being big enough for 3 of my oversized fingers, has poor ergonomics. That is what kept it from getting a 5 star rating in my book. But it is the only mug I found to meet all 3 of my aforementioned requirements.

One more noteworthy quality about this mug, the lid attaches by a compression ring, which does not leak and can be positioned anywhere, so you can drink with right or left hand.

Overall I'm very happy with the purchase and would buy it again.

Well, almost three years after my original review I'm adding this comment. This cup has truly stood the test of time. Only now am I buying a replacement for my original mug which got very heavy use every day. Its a great value considering the quality. Honestly, this cup was never sold for $5 as one of the other reviewers stated. Please, this mug is insulated by a real vacuum (not some cardboard filler) and it wouldn't have sold at that low a price. Great mug that deserves more stars than I originally gave it.

Nice design to this mug. Most other mugs are so gimmicky, but this one is nice and simple. That makes it easy to clean. The wide rim is perfect for a tea drinker like me who wants to get the full aroma steamed into my face.

I could care less for the plastic lids that are always designed for these kinds of mugs, because I can't stand drinking through plastic. But all vacuum mugs seem to have this flaw. This particular mug is still the best.

This was a terrible purchase and is non returnable. The so called foam pillow is hard as a rock and has no softness at all not one bit. It maybe fine for using while sitting up but is worthless for use as a sleeping pillow unless you like sleeping on a rock. This was the first item I ever bought on Amazon that I wished I did not buy. I would recommend looking for a different one and skipping this one.

I had one of these many years ago that over time (20+ years) just fell apart and had been searching for a replacement. I found a few places on-line where I could order a custom made wedge for roughly 2 to 3 times the cost of this item - more than I thought it was worth. I was pleased to find this item on Amazon at a much more reasonable price. The foam is a bit stiffer than the previous one that I had, but after 1-2 days it was not a problem. It was well packaged - wrapped in a plastic bag inside of the shipping box - I highly recommend.

I returned this as quickly as I could. It puts you at a very uncomfortable angel and it is so hard it hurts your back. I would not recommend this product to anyone for the use as a pillow.
